KHADI & VILLAGE INDUSTRIES COMMISSION’S

Bapurao Deshmukh Institute of Leather Technology and General Engineering

This is the first Engineering College in India which has been identified by ‘Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)’ to run the vocational and skill development program of Govt of India. The activity is being run through the separate department, titled, ‘Bapurao Deshmukh Institute of Leather Technology and General Engineering’, headed by Prof. S R Chaudhari, within the campus. Complete machineries and accessories costing around 150 lakh has been provided by KVIC to our institute along with the annual recurring and non-recurring grant. With the aim to cater the services for community development of the area, College and Management have provided infrastructure for the centre. The centre has availed the grant from Govt of India under ‘HRD Mission’ for imparting training on leather goods to youths.

 

Features of the Centre:
A) The centre imparts following training programmes.
    • Leather and Rexin Goods
    • Refrigerator and Air condition
    • Building construction and supervision
    • Food products
    • Electronics and electrical
    • Computer hardware, and other as per need of the industries..

    B) Centre has been recognized by the Directorate of PMEGP of Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India for ‘Entrepreneurship Development Program’ for PMEGP Scheme for Vidarbha region.

    C) The centre is approved centre for ‘RURAL INDUSTRIES CONSULTANCY SERVICES (RICS)’ to provide handholding facility to first generation entrepreneurs to set up their entrepreneurial venture and to prepare the project report.

    D) The centre organizes outdoor training progrmme for rural youth for employment generation and provode the assistance to set up the projects.

    E) The panel of the Professors from IIT Delhi and higher officers of KVIC visited the centre for its best performance.

    2) IIT Panel Visited the Centre

Prof. Dr. P.L. Dhar, IIT Delhi and Member of KVIC, Prof. Dr. Gaur, IIT Delhi, Prof. Dr. Rajendraprasad, IIT Delhi, Dr. T. Karunakaran, Director of MGIRI and former Prof of IIT, and other dignitaries in the visiting panel in the photograph. Prof. S R Chaudhari, Principal of BDILTGE alongwith Dr. S. S. Khandare, Principal of BDCE presented the activities and performance of the centre.
